I love my dropcam, with subscription and without subscription. I have it send me alerts whenever there is activity (sound or motion), and it emails me a picture of it for free.
Its much better with a subscription, but that adds a minimum $9.99 to my monthly expenses so I only add it when I'm going to be out of town as I do have other systems in place to monitor as well.
