VHS to Blu-Ray - What You Need To Know

Only VHS to BluRay deck available right now - amazon.jp

So you have some miscellanous VHS tapes from the 90s that you want to transfer to a blu-ray spec disc you can pop into a standard blu-ray player?  The main benefits to this are that you can fit more video on a Blu-Ray disc, brings your video footage to a more modern format, and Blu-Ray discs should outlast your VHS tapes with proper care.

Pros:

  1. Saves physical space.
  2. Modern format, longer ready to playback life.  VHS decks are harder to find.
  3. Longer term archiving.

Cons:

  1. Time consuming - No easy one-step solution.
  2. Expensive to DIY and extract the best quality.
  3. Blu-ray now, but what color-ray later?  Future cloud storage might be the answer.
  4. If one Blu-Ray disc gets destroyed, its like destroying a lot of VHS tapes of footage.
  5. VHS to DVD is much easier.

In the USA, there is no set-top computerless device that will take your VHS video and copy it to Blu-Ray playable disc in one step.

Earthlink Internet Access FAIL

This is what happens as I'm streaming a live video seminar, and uploading a youtube video at the same time.  But once youtube uploading stops, everything is back to normal.

F-

Just so you know, even implementing QoS does not help the situation.  Download speeds are reduced to near useless while the upload is in progress.

I do not recommend Earthlink here in So Cal.

How to Turn Photos Into Cash

These days its really easy to get into, but difficult to make wads and wads of cash without some work.  It can be done, but you really have to be vigilant in producing photographs people want.

Just from personal experience, I've uploaded about 7 photographs to www.istockphoto.com, and you can click the link and see what those 7 photographs are.

I just wanted to point out that the photographs aren't stunning.  But if you just look at the ones in my link, you'd never believe the biggest seller.

It's the picture of a simple brick.  I've made over $200 on that single picture since I've uploaded it.  It wasn't difficult to setup, photograph, or anything.  I used a Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 to shoot it and some poster paper for the background.  This is easily a shot anybody can do.

Imagine what you could do if you actually worked at it in your spare time.

Crocs, the funny looking footwear company now has high heel shoes

I never even considered wearing crocs because of they way they looked, and the neon colors I remember seeing in stores.  They seemed really expensive and didn't look or feel durable.

My mind changed when my brother showed up in a pair of crocs for an overseas tropical island trip and they looked and felt like regular, but quality shoes that were extremely comfortable and versatile.

My first pair of crocs were sandals I got over the summer.  They're great and look cool too!  Over the weekend I picked up another pair of really comfortable crocs that look more traditional on the outside but really comfortable on the inside.  And I've given out a few pairs as gifts too and I'm not even the type to get excited about shoes.

A friend bought some heels with croc technology and she loves them.  Ladies, looking for the benefits of heels without the pain should really look at the new stuff they've got.

Check them out on zappos or 6PM which has a sale going on right now.
