This May Be the Most Awesome Mobile Game Controller CES 2015

Announced at CES 2015 by Mad Catz is the Lynx Mobile Hybrid controller pictured above.  It folds into itself for compact on the go travel gaming as well.  I didn't get a chance to try it (so much to see), but Mad Catz is a known veteran in this gaming space and their last controller I tried gets close to 5 stars on Amazon (Mad Catz Mobile Gamepad.)

DJ Tiesto Promoting His New Headphones CES 2015

Honestly, there was a really, really long line leading to the booth to see DJ Tiesto and get an autograph.  There were so many people I skipped the opportunity to see / try his headphones - I'm sure they're good and pricey.

Actually, I just found a pair of his higher end cans on Amazon: AKG K267 Tiesto DJ Headphones, but only rated 3 stars.  There may have been newer headphones announced, but I missed it.  So please just enjoy this picture of DJ Tiesto at the booth.  Oh, and Shaq made a cameo appearance as well and walked on through.

The Only Drone Flying Through the Show Floor @ CES 2015

Out of all the drones on the show floor at CES 2015, the Micro Drone 2 was the only one I saw demonstrated flying up and down the aisle, (confidently I might add), with no cages or safety devices.  Its super small, so it doesn't present any reasonable threat to any attendees but the demonstration was impressive none-the-less.

It went too fast for me to capture on video with manual focus on the Canon DSLR I had in hand, but believe me - it was small, fast, and agile. Plus you can buy it now: Extreme Fliers Micro Drone 2.0

Wocket Smart Wallet @ CES 2015

Wocket hopes to replace your wallet of cards with its biometrically locked solution for $149.99.  

It will support your magnetic striped cards you swipe directly into the unit, and barcoded cards with manual entry.  This included membership cards, barcode scan cards.  

In person, the Wocket appears to be about as big as my own wallet - except that its more secure because no information is displayed until you unlock it.  What sets it apart from other solutions is that you don't need to link it or attach it to another device to use it.  It works completely independently of other devices after all the information is entered.

CES 2015 Innovation Awards Showcase

As promised, I uploaded the CES 2015 Innovation Awards showcase photos here.  There are quite a bit of honorees, some of them were shown twice in the same area.  The showcase was featured in the Sands Exhibit Hall and with lighting coming from below (worse for photography), but you can see direct links as well to the award winners here.

CES 2015 Comes To A Close

And I've spent more time walking the show floor than I did reporting on it.  I did take a lot of pictures and got a lot of 'press kits' which will allow me to give you the details on some of the things I saw.  

Fitness bands were really back en-force of course, and my Basis Watch tells me that I've walked about 12-13k steps every day since Tuesday walking the show floors.

Let's see, the most awesome product which I'm personally interested in is the LiveWedge by Cerevo.  As a Health IT Consultant, I have to give presentations, and video trainings and I can see how would add that extra production value to my videos with little to minimal post.  Its effectively a HDMI switch, recorder, live broadcaster, and green screen unit all in one for under $1000!  Sadly, you won't see a whole lot of press on this item - but the most exciting thing to me is the affordability / capability ratio.

Flying dones were all over the place this year.  I'm most excited about the DJI Inspire 1 as far as flying drones are concerned but the AirDog won a CES show award so that's one I'm going to have to look into.

And I like where the future of autonomous, and semi-autonomous driving cars are going.  Hyundai made a fantastic video of the future Genesis and BMW had a live showcase of their technology in the middle island with their auto parking, impossible to hit anything i3.

There were a LOT of CES innovations award winners this year, and once I find the link and process some pictures I'll share them with you in an upcoming post.  

 

InBody Fitness Band - No, not literally In Body @ CES 2015

What caught my eye about this fitness band is that it actually looks like something my GF might wear. Meaning that it doesn't actually look hideous on the wrist, and you can change the style up to one that looks like metal jewelry.

What is really special about this band is that it tells you your body composition with the touch of two fingers on the metal plates.

DJI Inspire One Camera Mount @ CES 2015

Remember the DJI Inspire One, the awesome 4k Drone?  

Well, they now made a 'stick' which you can attach that 4k camera and take it to go for stabilized photos and videos.  It's Plug & Play, just take your inspire 1 camera, attach it, power on the mount and its ready to go.

In the demo photo above, the Camera Stick transmits the video signal via wifi directly to your smart phone.

1st NFC Electronic Luggage Locks @ CES 2015

eGEETouch introduced the world's first smart electronic padlocks and luggage locks at CES 2015 that easily unlock with a simple NFC tap from your phone or tag.  Both programmable to do either of those functions.   The padlocks (low security) will be out first or second quarter this year for about $80 retail, and they are going to be in discussions with luggage manufacturers about the luggage locks.

I arrived a bit later than I wanted to CES Unveiled Press event last night.  It was a zoo, like last year except for one very important difference.  They ran out of the main food attraction - Collossal Shrimp!  So I had to make do with the fancy cheese and crackers.  And yes, a happy blogger is a more productive blogger.

So this time around, I skipped the video and just took stills pictures of some of the stuff and people I talked to.  You can see the mobile album here.  I will highlight some of the more interesting things I saw at this event in an upcoming post, but frankly I was somewhat disappointed.  Most of the cool stuff got announced previously so seeing it here was just seeing it after the fact.
