Samsung Series 7 Chronos Review - Ivy Bridge + Nvidia 2012 Model
Unboxing and Intro coming soon...
Review after 1 month:
I consider this the best 15.6" general purpose notebook I have ever tested - best in category under $1000.
Part 2:
Model purchased from Best Buy here:
Slightly different model sold at Amazon, note the differences below in model information:
Some model information:
- NP700Z5C-S01UB: 15.6" 1600x900 - i7-3615QM 2.3GHz - 512MB GDDR5 GT 630M - 1TB 5400rpm - 8GB RAM
- NP700Z5C-S01US: 15.6" 1600x900 - i7-3615QM 2.3GHz - 1GB GDDR5 GT 640M - 750GB 7200rpm - 6GB RAM
- NP700Z5C-S04US: 15.6" 1600x900 - i7-3615QM 2.3GHz - 1GB GDDR5 GT 640M - 750GB 7200rpm - 8GB RAM
Older Series 7 Unit: NP700Z5A-S04US - 15.6 - 2nd gen i7 - 6750m 1gb - 750gb 7200rpm (older model, slower GPU, but cheaper)
I want you to be aware that the graphics processor in there is accurate, but NVIDIA's component detection in their driver software does not properly detect it. That's ok, install the one that is detected (I think it was 620M, and it will properly install the correct one).
Also that there is another model that gives you the 640M graphics for just $100 more and it is not currently sold at Best Buy at this time. The hard drive is also a 7200RPM 750GB drive for that model.
Also found at Newegg - check the slightly different configuration.
