Its so simple, its genius! Take a coil of flexible tubing, make it nearly indestructible, run a Apple certified lightning cable, and a simple docking clip on the end and you got the most flexible stand and dock in the world.

So, how functional is it?

I've only had the Une Bobine for a few days, but its already my favorite stand with my laptop on the go. People ask me in cafes where to get one, so expect to be interrupted every now and then if used out in the wild.

The simple dock portion at one end turns out to be simply fantastic. I've only used it with my iPhone 5S and Pong Case so far, but the phone slides in and out with just the right amount of ease and tension. Check out the video if you want the hands on.

Fully extended, the whole Bobine is about 24 inches. With that amount of flexible coil, I'm about to get the phone higher up than just about every portable stand I've ever tried. I'm even able to get the phone to stand up higher than my Macbook Pro's built-in webcam for a more pleasant eye-level facetime or google plus session.

It should be self explanatory, but a certain amount of twisting and turning needs to take place if you want to get high up, and oriented just right. And a little bit more effort if plugged into a USB port for charging or syncing higher up as well. So expect to spend a few seconds setting it up every time - at least in the beginning. I'm not a pro yet, but I'm getting better at it.

Truth be told, its kind of fun.

It gets up to face level fairly easily on the table.

As expected, the higher up you go, the less stable it will get. This won't be a problem on a table, but in a moving car or plane, it could make people nautious. Luckily, if you want to make more use of the 24 inch length, Fuse Chicken makes a simple clip in part of a car kit here which you can use to help stabilize the Une Bobine.

Bottom line, its a great buy for any iPhone 5/5S user. Fuse Chicken also makes an iPhone 4S version and a microUSB version for $19.95 MSRP as well.
