Tribeca Makes Some Cool Looking, Great Sounding Headphones

Every year I end up rushing through the iPhone / iOS / iLounge section of CES because its the last hall, with a gazillion cases, mobile accessories, etc.  Some booths catch my eye as I walk pass them, and this trip Tribeca / YUMC / Ranipak  caught my eyes and my ear's attention.  Their booth was pretty hip too - so that helps.  Check after the break for a full 360 of what it was like in the Tribeca booth.

There are a lot of good looking headphones, but few look as good as they sound. 

I gave these Tribeca Genuine Wood headphones a try to see why they were Award Worthy with a Best of Show awarded at CTIA 2013, as well as mention in iPhone Life magazine.  I wasn't using any fancy audio amplifiers, or any other gear - just plugged directly into a standard popular iPhone 5.  They sounded fantastic, and surprisingly rich.  And while advertised for rap and hip-hop, the bass wasn't overly boomy either.  What also caught me off guard was how light the headphones were.  They look heavy, expensive, with all that wood and metal - but were very comfortable.

So, my initial impressions are really positive indeed.  Its too bad I don't see their headphones much out here in Southern California in retail stores or I'd give it a more thorough testing and review.  One day perhaps...
