LA City Parking is Messed Up
Earlier this year I got a parking ticket for street sweeping where I was minutes from when the street sweeping was stated to start. I had a very busy first quarter and filed my appeal on the very last day it was allowed. They said it was received late. I argued it was post-marked on the final day to appeal. They said they would get back to me... They still haven't..
Meanwhile, my fine got doubled to $150 + late fee. (Yes, the fine for street sweeping parking is over $70; $73 according to this article.) Anyway, I have written them FOUR times. I paid the fee first because $150+ is more than I even cared to pay, now they won't bother replying.
This is absolutely ridiculous. I'm really glad there is an organization called the Los Angeles Parking Freedom Initiative fighting for Angelino's rights -- too bad their website is down.
If there is any class action suit going on, I'm in.
