Groupon Goods has the Serengeti Panther electric scooter.  There is one review from a happy customer that paid $999 for theirs here on Amazon.  And another on Discovery News blog about their experience so far with it.

The main concerns are that the top speed of 30 mph is over-stated in general use.  Also the build quality is questionable.  However, for the price it is fairly tough to complain.  Though you may be on your own for getting a replacement battery thousands of miles down the line.
