iZon Remote Room Monitor for iPhone iTouch iPad Review

I should preface this by saying that I no longer have the iZon Remote Room Monitor.  I returned it because it unfortunately does not meet my expectations nor the lofty expectations shown in Stem's promotion video.

I really wanted (well want) the iZon to succeed.  In my opinion, they are pioneers in this particularly special segment with features that other self-contained security / room monitors in its class cannot touch.  Yes, there is a new entry that may be the answer to what iZon was trying to accomplish (Dropcam ), but the features come at a monthly fee.

It should be interesting to see how well their latest update improves the performance.  If I do get enough interest in this, I will acquire another iZon and post updates.

Stem has announced (on this page) that they will be addressing the 20+ second delay for their 'live' video viewing.  Let's hope they address some other issues this year too!

iZon v2 is the same hardware as v1, the only difference is the updated software/firmware.  Based on some of the preliminary reviews on iZon v2, its not much better than v1.

At original $129.99, I'd say pass on this product.  For $39.99, its worth a try.

Just wanted to update and let people know that the 'upload' automatically to youtube function doesn't work.  Apparently Youtube (rightfully) doesn't appreciate the use of its services like this, so don't expect it to automatically upload as advertised.

I'm still going to stand by my recommendation of getting a Dropcam Wi-Fi Wireless Video Monitoring Camera, or a Dropcam Pro Wi-Fi Wireless Video Monitoring Camera.  You need to pay up for premium Cloud Recording, but for the notifications alone you viewing live from the web is free.
