Duracell Powermat Kit for iPhone 5S
I had previously recorded this over a year ago, and this is a repost because friends have been asking about my experience with the Powermat I used for my iPhone 5S. Mostly because they saw charging stations at various Starbucks across the US.
The video below are some thoughts and shortcomings for the kit.
Now at $30 some dollars, makes this a great deal!

Amazon's FireTV Fail
I got the Amazon Fire TV 2 days ago, plugged it in and got up and running pretty quick. Amazon actually links your account info when you order direct and all you have to do is connect to network.
Setup couldn't be much simpler. Plug in power, plug in HDMI, put 2 AAA batteries in remote and power on, enter in wifi info, watch an intro video and you're off!
I was able to watch a few 'free-with-Prime' membership episodes with no problem starting out. A few episodes into a show I had to make a phone call so I paused my fireTV and was gone for a good 15 minutes or so. Came back, and the screensaver was on.
I could not get out of the screensaver. No button presses on the remote worked. I took the batteries out (supplied btw), put them back in and the remote worked.

Two major things wrong with the Meta Watch:

Nomad ChargeKey Lightning Cable Review
I'm always looking for a charge cable for my smartphones. For my Apple iPhone 5S, its something that I have to find and plug at least twice a day depending on the amount of usage I get. Sometimes I forget my cable somewhere and then I have to limit the use of my smartphone till I'm sure I can get safely to a charger.
Things I use a lot which eat up a lot of energy are the GPS, camera, wifi tethering, and speakerphone - particularly in areas of poor cellular reception.
So having a cable or means to charge regularly is a high priority for me, which is why I carry a variety of battery packs to go and a solar charger just in case in the car. It's all fine until I forget my lightning cable.
Enter the Nomad Chargekey - its a tiny little dongle sized cable with all the right parts of the USB A port, and a licensed certified lightning head on the other side. It fits on the keychain, and I love it - if anything for the assurance that I can always charge up and its always with me.
Canon Vixia Mini X
Canon VIXIA mini X is the upgraded version of the Canon VIXIA Mini
, featuring quite a few improvements - most notably the audio portion with much better mics and external mic jack input. I also caught image stabilization, and remote pan-head capabilities with the Canon Pan Table CT-V1
. It also features a bigger battery too.

Canon Vixia Mini Flip Style Camcorder
I like it, and I go over the reasons why the Canon Vixia Mini just might be worth the premium asking price of $299.99. Actually the Canon VIXIA Mini Black is on sale at Amazon for $269.99 here as I post this.

Boxee DVR Cloud DVR has been discontinued. If you still find these in stores, know that all it functions as now is a OTA tuner or paper weight.
News release on the main boxee page:
"
We’re pleased to announce that the Boxee team will be joining Samsung.
We started on this journey six years ago, and have been at the forefront of the changing TV and video landscape. We believe that over the next few years the video market will change even more than it has in the past few decades.
Joining Samsung means we will be able to work on products that marry the best hardware and software in the TV space, products that will be used by tens of millions of people and will help to shape the future of TV.
We are excited about the next chapter for our team.
For Boxee users, we’re working behind the scenes to ensure there’s minimal impact to your devices. However, the beta Cloud DVR functionality we provided to certain Boxee TV users will be discontinued on July 10th. You will not have access to your existing recordings after that date. We realize many of you loved the service, and we’re sorry it won’t be available moving forward.
We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve built, and we want to thank you for being a part of our journey.
