The HoriPad Ultimate is the newest officially licensed controller for the new AppleTV, and made by a well known (in gaming circles) company known for gaming controllers.

It is $49.99 at Apple Store, and comes in and out of stock at Amazon.

Its in a typically nice retail box, solid feeling, and without even opening the box it feels like something special - applelesque. Inside the box is a clean package with pretty much just the controller, and user manual. It charges with a 'standard' Apple lightning cable - MFI certified or not, but doesn't include one.

The gaming pad feels like a replica of one Sony uses for its Playstation consoles - all the good and the bad things one expects. Mostly good! People have complained about the trigger controls, but I personally don't have a problem with it - keep in mind I'm not a hardcore FPS player though.

Chargning the controller only took about 1.25 hours to full out of the box, but there was enough charge in it to start playing immediately if you wanted.

Since there weren't many instructions, I thought I'd give it a go on the pairing process. It wasn't as cool as the near field bluetooth setup for the wifi, but if you have setup bluetooth before its pretty similar

In a few games I tried with it, it really brings the 'console' like gaming experience one expects. I have medium/large hands and it feels like the controller was designed for me.

Overall, I'd have to say this controller has exceeded my expectations for a controller for the Apple TV. Haven't tried it with my iPhone or iPad yet, but I imagine its going to be just as good. If only there were more games that I could play two player with (the main reason I got two of them), but single player games felt console quality on a simpler level.

This gets my vote as best handheld gamepad for Apple TV.
