I just got back from a long trip abroad in China, and the Satechi iCel Battery Pack is the only pack you should consider that combines it all:

I've had the Vega 200 and used it for a good month or so for riding.  Things I love about it:

• Rugged
• Weather resistant
• Beam of light is good enough for most city night rides
• All in one head unit, no cables to dangle
• Multiple modes of lighting with a single button push

What I didn't like:

• Mount.  It's going to fail.  And when it does, you might just lose your light. 
• Very little side visibility
• Single push button is easy to push if stashed away in your bag for safety.  Light could be on and wasting power.
• Top heavy.  It's like a giant heatsink.  This would not be an issue if it weren't for the mount.
• Not good for offroad use or bumpy trails (issue again with the mount).

I would recommend this only if you are going to use it for well paved city biking.  A good bump or two from a pothole could one day cause the light to fall from your bike on a rainy day and be lost forever in a sewer drain.  (Yes, I have seen this happen to a friend with a different light).

Orange Joos Solar Panel Review

The Joos Orange is supposed to offer 6 to 20 times more son to power conversion and efficiency when compared to its competitors. The price is right at just $100 (introductory) for the base model, plus some extras that you may or may not want in order to adapt it for your charging and portable power needs.

It's also supposed to be able to charge an iPad! (yay!) - (it does but check out my demonstration above).

I was pretty excited at the time when they first introduced it and announced it last summer and showed some demonstration videos about how rugged it was. I have a few solar panels myself to use for travel, but almost all of them state that they are not to be used for an extended period of time outside.

What is the point in that?

Anyway there are some sample videos shown below about how rugged the Joos Orange solar charger is including underwater tests as well as shooting a 22 caliber rifle straight at the solar cell.

As you probably figured out already, they are in fact in stock now at their website.  I have ordered one two weeks ago and it arrived last week.  I'm putting it through some tests now and will post a first look review within the next week or two.

If you would like me to test anything in particular, let me know and I'll do my best to include it in my tests.

I took the liberty in reviewing a version 1 and a version 2 of the internals.  I found some screws loose due to some hairline fractures in the plastic casing - one of the weak points of the solar joose orange.  

Besides the fracture, I also found some waterproofing gasket missing on a brand new unit in version 2.  So... definitely be careful about trusting the weatherproofing of any of these Solar Joos units out in the wild if your life depends on it.

As you probably figured out by now, this model / pricing plan is no longer available from Clear for $25.  They have an identical unit in black that is also 4G only but at a higher price and not restricted to Apple devices.

While traveling last month I used up about 14 GB of data in the greater LA County area.  Worked out great for streaming videos and uploading pictures.
